Body contouring can do wonders t o smooth your silhouette and enhance your appearance. Each person has different concerns they’d like to resolve, and addressing each issue with the correct cosmetic approach is the best way to ensure ideal results.
If you’re unsure whether you should get liposuction vs a tummy tuck or combine them both, consider the following questions.
1. Do You Have Separated Abdominal Muscles?
During pregnancy or significant weight gain, the two halves of the abdominal muscles can become separated, leading to a condition known as diastasis recti . The result is a distended stomach that can droop or protrude, and no amount of ab work or dieting will fix the issue. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, can pull the abdominals into their original position for a fitter look.
2. Do You Have Loose or Baggy Abdominal Skin?
Diet and exercise can help eliminate excess unwanted fat but is not as effective when it comes to getting rid of excess sagging skin.
The skin stretches during pregnancy or weight gain and doesn’t always have enough elasticity to “spring back” later on. If you have loose, hanging skin around your stomach, you may be a candidate for a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck can remove loose skin and tighten abdominal muscles, while liposuction is effective at minimizing lingering fat. A combination of both procedures may lead to the best results if you have both of these concerns.
3. Do You Have Problem Spots that Don’t Respond to Diet or Exercise?
It’s a common frustration to be at or near your target weight but unable to shake some problem spots. Common locations on the body that store stubborn pockets of fat and don’t respond to diet or exercise include the outer thighs, the waist, hips, tummy and arms. Liposuction can successfully target these areas and more for a smooth, streamlined figure.
